Off-road performance capabilities are limited by power distribution. In an all-wheel drive such as that found in the Ford F-150 Raptor, power is distributed to the tires through a transmission and dual differentials. New technology allows the driver to select from a cadre of options.

In the Ford F-150 Raptor you find a Terrain Management System that offers six driving modes from which the driver selects depending on the situation. The selection determines how much torque is sent to the front or rear wheels. Under the Rock mode, the differentials operate intelligently to send up to 100% of the power to a single wheel if that is the demand. Snow mode divides the torque so that power is sent equally to all wheels. The Terrain Management System comes standard in the Raptor.

You can view the new Ford F-150 Raptor at Lithia Ford Lincoln of Fresno.
